GAME Plan moves along
What I am finding out while developing this GAME plan is that there is a wealth of options out there for implementing new technology into my lab. I am finding different free technology by subscribing with an RSS feed on my blogger page. I bookmark what might work in my classroom and see what my students might be able to use. What I am finding a bit difficult is monitoring and modifying because I am not currently using some of this technology because we are on break. It is hard to say what will work for any particular group of students when you cannot get any feedback from those students. I have definitely adjusted my mind-set after going through these graduate courses as to what my expectations for my students are. I want to make sure that they believe in their minds that using this 21st century technology, they can do whatever it is that they imagine in their minds.

A mindset adjustment seems to be the first step (but maybe the most important step) into changing expectations. Sometimes it's easy for us teachers to get caught up in the same mindset and not change our ways. Change is difficult but sometimes necessary. Keep up the good work!

ReplyDeleteI agree with you. What you may think is a great learning resource, the students may think is too simplistic and a waste of their time. It's difficult thinking "as a student," when preparing items for class. I have often thought, "wow, this is going to be a great lesson," and then have it become a major bust because the students didn't like it. I definitely think that this is half the battle when finding resources to use in class. As a result, now whenever I try and locate resources for my class, I try to think like a 15 year old and ask myself, "would I like to do this/be interested in this?"
I am having the same difficulty with the monitoring part of this plan because it is still summer for us right now. Almost impossible to monitoring those things involving student achievement and implementation when there are no students around.
ReplyDeleteJohn,
ReplyDeleteMindset is the key. Establishing the means by which to collect possible items for implementation is an awesome step. It sure is difficult to monitor what is not yet implemented, but from the sidelines, it looks like a great play!
